ATO PICTURES/FOX SEARCHLIGHT'S “CHOKE” IN THEATRES FRIDAY, 09.26.08 THE ATO RECORDS SOUNDTRACK NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH ITUNES
09/23/2008
Fox Searchlight will release CHOKE in theatres across North America on Friday, September 26, 2008. ATO Pictures (co-founded by Dave Matthews) and ContraFilm produced the Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. CHOKE is an adaptation of the wickedly colorful, subversive dark comedy from Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club, starring Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston. CHOKE’s director and screenwriter, Clark Gregg, also stars in the film.
In describing the film, Dave said, "Addiction, bitterness, religion, deception, mortality, history and a beautiful love story all wrapped up in sex...no kissing please"

The soundtrack for CHOKE, an ATO Records digital-only release, is now available through iTunes. The album features seven songs from the film and seven others that were significant to actor, director and screen writer Clark Gregg’s vision while he was making it. Highlights include previously recorded songs by the likes of Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Fiery Furnaces, The Twilights Singers and Ben Kweller. Most notable additions are the previously unreleased or rare tracks that appear on the record, among them “Orgasm Addict” by The Buzzcocks, as sung by the band’s original singer Howard Devoto; a great version of The Doors’ “Crystal Ship” by the incomparable Nicole Atkins and The Sea; and the original version by The Natural History of Spoon’s current hit single, “Don’t You Ever.”
